The National Spatial and Information Management (NSIM) Working Group Terms of Reference describe NSIM’s key tasks and activities. These tasks and activities include facilitating the development of spatial information capabilities within the counter-terrorism, emergency management and critical infrastructure protection sectors and supporting information management capabilities within the emergency management sector.
The NSIM Spatial Strategic Plan 2007-2010 provides direction on establishing a national spatial information capability by 2010. The national spatial information capability will support counter-terrorism, emergency management, and critical infrastructure protection. The plan reflects collaboration between the Australian Government, States, and Territories in developing a key spatial information capability at the national, state, and local government levels.
NSIM comprises members from the Australian Government, States and Territories, and relevant organisations that have an interest in the application of spatial and information management for counter-terrorism, emergency management and critical infrastructure protection. Membership is defined in the NSIM Terms and Reference and further information on particular agencies and organisations can be found via the Links section on the Home page.
