NSIM Spatial Strategic Plan 2007-2010

The purpose of this strategic plan is to agree on directions for the development of a national spatial information capability that can be used to support critical infrastructure protection, counter-terrorism and emergency management activities at the national, state and local government levels.

NSIM Spatial Awareness DVD

The NSIM Working Group has developed a Spatial Awareness DVD to increase people’s understanding of the uses and benefits of spatial information capabilities in planning and decision-making. The NSIM Spatial Awareness DVD comprises an overview movie called ‘Every Picture’ that introduces the general uses of geographic information systems (GIS) and the role of NSIM in promoting a national capability. It also comprises four Case Studies from Australian States and Territories outlining how spatial information capabilities are being used in both strategic and operational decision-making for counter-terrorism, critical infrastructure protection and emergency management.

The DVD is not currently available for download. The DVD is being made available on disc in Australia through NSIM members at presentations and conferences. If you would like further information on the DVD, please contact a relevant jurisdictional representative or the NSIM Secretariat.

Fact Sheets

Fact Sheets are available online or for download. Fact Sheets provide a handy reference on a number of topics and are available by visiting the Fact Sheets page.

Awareness Packs

NSIM has compiled a limited number of Awareness Packs for distribution in Australia. The packs provide a convenient way of delivering a range of useful material on spatial information capabilities and NSIM activities.

The Awareness Packs contain:

  1. a copy of the Spatial Strategic Plan 2007-2010;
  2. an NSIM Spatial Awareness DVD and
  3. a set of Fact Sheets.

All of this material except the DVD is available on this webpage for reading or download. If you would like further information on the Awareness Packs, please contact a relevant jurisdictional representative or the NSIM Secretariat.
