- Identify, propose and promote solutions to administrative, financial, legal, policy and security issues to allow collaborative sharing of spatial and other information;
- Identify, propose and promote solutions to barriers for data integration, systems interoperability and other technical issues;
- Evaluate and provide strategic advice on spatial and other information requirements;
- Maintain an inventory of existing and developing spatial information infrastructure and interoperability status;
- Examine and make recommendations on:
- data capture and access
- standards, including symbology
- technical infrastructure and appropriate models and tools
- capacity building, including awareness raising, education and skills development;
- Integrate the use, and assess the utility, of existing and emerging spatial information systems for capability development activities and operational processes; and
- Identify, analyse and report on existing and emerging relevant information sources.
- The NSIM Working Group has identified an extensive work program through the development of the Spatial Strategic Plan 2007-2010. It is currently also focussing on a way forward for information management.
